The enum module lets you use lots of different data types for enum values, but I went with an integer-valued enum (enum.IntEnum) for this, because it lets developers still work with the result as a pseudo-boolean type if they don’t care about the extra information from the third option (since in Python 0 is false and all other integers are true).
